How can people believe the earth is less than 10,000 years old?

why this is in biology is beyond me, but i agree completely. I'm muslim but i do not agree with the young earth as i like to call it, but religion, well mostly christianity and some older ones, are stories with morals, like the tortoise and the hare, meant to teach a lesson, set rules, like that but for adults. But they went as far as worshipping it. If you think about it, the bible, the quran (yes im saying it) the bhagavad gita and other holy books are really just there to set rules, keep people in line, but sometimes its like worshipping the tortoise and the hare. Yes rediculous, but human nature, we all need answers, no matter who you are. The thing about the earth being 6 thousand years old is when the bible was written, there wasnt any written history about 4- 5 thousand years before that, so they umed there was nothing before them. Humans love to think they are/ were first, and love being first. And america is SUCH a catholic nation it will have a negative impact soon, to the point it will be taught a fact in public schools, it sickens me, it is illogical. And most catholics dont know much about their own holy book, most jews, muslims, and atheist/ agnostics know a lot. it was in a real study. And your right but they arent gonna change their oppinions about religion any time soon, perhaps EVER but we must learn to live with it, as excruciating as it will be. I honestly wouldnt mind if people didnt force their religion on to me, but they do.
