Should treason be redefined to meet 21st Century standards?

Treason...the betrayal of a trust or confidence; breach of faith; treachery. Think of all the completely selfish acts that have been committed against the American people...the executives of companies like Enron, AIG, Fannie Mae, Freddy Mac, WAMU, not to mention every company that offshores there products and services in order to get a little richer. To top this off...our politicians protect them because they are benefitting as well! Both the Reps and Dems! When will it stop? I like Obama's thoughts about taxing the corporations who send work overseas, but at the same time McCain's plan of lowering their taxes will keep them here. Unfortunately, neither candidate has the complete solution to this. Do we need to redefine treason and start putting and end to this with severe penalties and consequences?
