Hi fellow seniors, have you ever bitten your finger nails?
My experience is like Stella's. I bit my nails til I was about thirty. And whenever I'd manage to bite the nails all the way down to the flesh, I'd then rip out the cuticles and even start gnawing on my fingertips, which consequently became calloused, so it was almost painless. A constantly ugly and bloody mess. In fairness, it was probably a relatively good way of relieving anxiety and focusing concentration. Better than some of my other habits, like smoking. But eventually I realized that everybody my age was beginning to pay attention to their grooming and their health even if they'd never done so before, and I figured it was time for me to do so as well. But none of my family or friends could get me to stop until I was ready to.
